Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 23, 2026 · Version 2026-09-23

This policy explains what we collect on gigsdrop, why we collect it, and your choices. It applies to the website and mobile apps.

Who we are

This Privacy Policy describes how gigsdrop ("gigsdrop," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use gigsdrop.com, our mobile apps, and related services (together, the "Service").

gigsdrop is a marketplace where Droppers post paid work ("Drops") and Clutchers pitch, collaborate, deliver, and get paid through escrow.

Information we collect

Account and profile

  • Email address, password (stored as a one-way hash), handle, and display name
  • Optional profile details you provide: bio, avatar, location, and skills
  • Whether you accept our Terms, and related timestamps

Marketplace activity

  • Drops you create or pitch on (titles, scope, budgets, tags, deadlines, attachments)
  • Agreements, signatures, submissions, and dispute materials
  • Messages and files shared in collab rooms for a Drop
  • In-app notifications related to your activity

Payments

  • When payments are enabled, payment and payout details are processed by Stripe (including Stripe Connect). We store Stripe account identifiers, payment/transfer references, and escrow ledger records needed to operate funded Drops.
  • We do not store full card numbers on gigsdrop servers.

Technical and usage data

  • IP address and basic request metadata used for security, rate limiting, and hosting
  • Auth session tokens stored on your device (browser local storage or mobile secure storage)
  • Server and infrastructure logs from our hosting providers

We do not currently use third-party advertising SDKs or product analytics SDKs in the Service.

How we use information

  • Create and secure your account, verify email, and reset passwords
  • Operate the marketplace: Drops, pitches, agreements, rooms, escrow, and payouts
  • Show public profile and open Drop information to other signed-in users
  • Send transactional email (verification, password reset) when email delivery is configured
  • Detect abuse, enforce rate limits, debug outages, and improve reliability
  • Comply with law and respond to lawful requests

What is public vs private

Visible to other signed-in users: your public profile (handle, display name, bio, avatar, location, skills, and marketplace stats) and open Drop listings you publish (including attachments on those listings).

Limited to participants: pitches (as appropriate to the Drop), agreements, collab room messages, private uploads, escrow details, disputes, and notifications. Your email is not shown on public profiles.

How we share information

We share information with:

  • Other users as needed to run the marketplace (profiles, open Drops, and private collab content with Drop participants)
  • Service providers that help us operate the Service, such as Stripe (payments), cloud hosting (including Cloudflare), object storage for uploads, email delivery (when configured), and database/infrastructure providers
  • Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service

We do not sell your personal information.

Retention

We keep account, marketplace, payment, and security records for as long as your account is active and as needed to operate the Service, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and enforce our Terms. You may request account deletion as described below; some records may be retained in limited form where required for escrow history, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

Security

We use industry-standard measures such as hashed passwords, authenticated API access, and access controls for private rooms and files. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong unique password and protect your devices.

Your choices and rights

  • Update profile information in the app
  • Request access, correction, or deletion of personal information we hold about you
  • Sign out to clear local session tokens on that device

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. To exercise them, contact us using the details below.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

International transfers

We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Those locations may have different data-protection laws than where you live.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law.
